Lilypie First Birthday tickers

RIP the wrap

Saturday, March 27, 2010
March 21st was a significant day for Harper. She slept for the 1st time without being wrapped up!

When we first started this method, we learned babies usually grow out of being wrapped by 6 months. Well, we flew by 6 months and Harper still loved being wrapped. 7 months came up and she still liked it. We figured she would let us know when she was done.

Sure enough, at 7.5 months, she called it quits on the wrap.

It was any normal Sunday afternoon, John was working and I was home with her. I wrapped her up and she seemed agitated so I decided I would give it a try laying her down unwrapped. To my surprise, she rolled right over on her tummy and didn't make a peep.

She hasn't been wrapped since.

Here is a memorial to our lovely wrapping memories :) And all the cute nicknames that came with it.

Burrito. Cocoon.

Mummy. Bullet

Caterpillar.

Tootsie Roll. Rocket

Rollie Pollie. Eggroll.

The wrap is the best advice we could give to new parents. It seriously changed our lives.

But we are happy she grew out of it. She was barely fitting in her blanky anymore. And I really didn't wanna wrap her as a junior higher.

This is proxy "Jett"

Our sweet and wonderful friends Mark and Becky are adopting a little boy from Ethiopia.
This little doll was how they told us the very exciting news.
Harper and proxy Jett really like to play together.

They roll around and Harper shows proxy Jett all the ropes.

Apparently proxy Jett doesn't mind getting his head gnawed on. Or maybe he just isn't vocal about it.

Or having his shoulder pulled out of socket.

The smothering doesn't get on his nerves.

And after Harper gets bored, proxy Jett never seems to be upset that she abandons him.

Let's see if real life "Jett" is this tolerant.

3 weeks ago Harper started trying to crawl.  2 weeks ago she started rocking. Pretty stinkin cute. :)

 Whoa, steady now...

Alright I got the arms. How do I move my legs too?

I am VERY determined to get this!

Pretty soon I'll be blogging about everything she has gotten into, all the things I've had to put away and the fact that she is trying to walk.

Oh man.

Dear Auntie Moo,

I had the best visit with you!  I'm so happy you got to come!

I loved it when you played with me.

You made me smile a lot!

And your tickles are the best!

Thanks for feeding me my breakfast, lunch and dinner.

And for rocking me to sleep.

I like hearing all your exciting and interesting stories.

One of my favorite times was when you took me to the aquarium and showed me all the fishies.

But my favorite was when you and me hung out and laughed.

You are the best auntie and I love you so much!

Love, Harper

Harper went in for 6 month wellness check up yesterday. She is 6 1/2 months old, but whatevs.

She weighs 15lbs. (20th %)
She is 2' 3 1/4" inches tall (87th %)
Her noggin is 16.73" around (42nd %)

She she has grown 3 inches in 6 weeks.....but has lost an ounce.

She is a long skinny minnie and the doctor told us that although she is in perfect health and we are doing a great job, we need to feed her more.

You may be thinking it's just an ounce, what's the big deal? Well if she hadn't grown 3 inches it wouldn't be. She should have gained a little bit more weight! It really isn't a big deal, but it is a deal. So we will be feeding her more. Which baffles me because I already think she eats so much.

She still got an A+!

She also got her shots. Which again, John was in charge of. 3 shots and the oral rotavirus. She did even better this time than the last time! John told me she only cried while she was getting poked and as soon as it was over she stopped! But he also said she looked at him with a pitiful face like "why are you letting them do this to me?!?!" Oh man. That will only get worse....

Lastly, Harper got prescribed her vitamin/fluoride drops. They stink just like vitamins and I thought it would be a battle to get her to take it. Nope.

Sheeesh. She hates her nanners but loves vitamin drops? Weirdo.
